
Senator Phil Arthurhultz was elected to four terms as a Michigan Senator serving for 16 years.
Arthurhultz was elected by his colleagues five times as the Majority Floor Leader, the seventh highest ranking official in Michigan State Government.
Arthurhultz dedication to his constituents was extremely evident. His attendance record is the best in the 175 year history of the Michigan State.
The Senator cast 12,257 votes out of 12,307 roll calls.
Arthurhultz personally sponsored 62 new laws.
His colleagues called him the Best Orator in the Senate.
A Detroit News poll of legislators and capitol observers voted him the legislator’s “Best Dressed Man”.
The Senator was named “Legislator of the Year” by the National Republican Legislator’s Association from over 1,500 nominees.
Arthurhultz has received over 50 awards and citations recognizing his contributions to the state and its residents. These awards acknowledge his legislative contributions by the Michigan Association of Children’s Alliances, The Humane Society, the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the National Rifle Association, and the National Federation of Independent Business.
He received an Honorary Doctorate degree from Baker College.
During his tenure in the Senate, Senator Arthurhultz was personally responsible for the following:
- A new interchange at US31 and Sternberg Road, south of Muskegon, which led to millions of dollars in business development and hundreds of new jobs.
- The boat marina on White Lake in Whitehall.
- Annual state subsidies for the continual operation of the car ferry in Ludington.
- The US 10/31 bypass in Scottville.
- The creation of a replacement dam and community park in White Cloud.
- Senator Arthurhultz personally walked in 408 parades during his 16 years in office.
After his Senate service, Michigan’s governor appointed Arthurhultz chairman of the Michigan liquor Control Commission. In this capacity, he was the Chief Executive Officer of an agency with gross revenue of $700 million and a payroll of 600 employees.
Arthurhultz hosted a daily two-hour talk radio program broadcast on radio stations throughout Michigan, including Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids and Battle Creek. Ratings placed the show as the most popular talk radio show in mid-Michigan.
Talker’s Magazine, a national publication, named Arthurhultz one of the most influential talk radio hosts in America.
On a more personal note, Phil is a sports car enthusiast and can be seen reluctantly obeying the speed limit. He previously owned a Porsche, Ferrari and a Mercedes. Currently he owns a Hummer, Two Cadillac XLR’s, a Lotus and a Lamborghini.
